The Heart of Your Fire Kit

True survivalism isn't about the flashiest gadgets; it’s about the reliability of your fundamentals. Born from decades of experience on the slopes of Snowdon and crafted with the precision of a professional designer’s eye, this kit is the cornerstone of any traditional fire-lighting setup.

This curated set provides the essential bridge between a spark and a flame. Whether you are using a traditional flint and steel or a modern ferro rod, our char cloth is prepared to catch the most delicate spark instantly.

What’s Included in the Kit:

  • Two (2) Metal Tins: (Tin Diameter approx 2.5inches) Lightweight, rust-proof, and pocket-sized. These tins are designed to protect your char cloth from moisture and compression, ensuring your tinder is bone-dry when you need it most. Each tin is emblazoned with the KonvoySG heritage logo—a mark of quality you can trust.
  • Four (4) Precision-Made Char Cloth Pieces: Each tin contains two, char cloth sheets (4 pieces total).
  • One (1) Signature Jute Tinder Bag: A rugged, breathable jute drawstring bag featuring our stamped logo. This isn't just for storage; jute itself is a secondary tinder source. In an emergency, fibres from the bag can be teased out to create a bird's nest to nestle your glowing char cloth.

The KonvoySG Difference

When you buy from us, you aren’t just getting gear; you’re joining a legacy. This kit is managed and dispatched directly from our family-run "garden warehouse.

  • Portability: Designed to fit in a jacket pocket or a side pouch of your rucksack.
  • Sustainability: Built to be reused. Once your char cloth is spent, the tins can be used to char your own natural materials in the field.

Technical Specifications:

  • Material: 100% Cotton Char Cloth, Metal Tin, Natural Jute.
  • Best For: Bushcraft, traditional fire lighting, survival training, and gift sets for outdoor enthusiasts.

Mastering the Spark: A Guide to Your KonvoySG Tinder Kit

Fire lighting is more than a skill; it’s a connection to our ancestors. Your KonvoySG Char Cloth is the bridge between a tiny spark and a roaring fire. Here is how to use it effectively.

Step 1: Prepare Your Bird’s Nest

Before you strike a spark, have your secondary tinder ready. Use dry grass, cedar bark, or even a few frayed threads from your KonvoySG Jute Bag. Shape it into a loose "nest" with a small hollow in the center.

Step 2: Position the Char Cloth

Take one piece of char cloth from your Metal Tin. If using flint and steel:

  • Place the char cloth on top of your flint stone, about 1-2mm back from the sharp edge.
  • Hold it firmly with your thumb.

Step 3: Catch the Spark

Strike the steel against the flint with a glancing blow. You are looking to shaved off a tiny piece of hot metal that lands directly onto the fabric.

  • The Glow: Unlike a match, char cloth won't "flame." Look for a tiny, growing red ember on the black fabric.

Step 4: From Ember to Flame

Once the cloth is glowing, carefully place it into the center of your prepared bird's nest.

  • Fold the nest loosely over the glowing cloth.
  • Blow with long, steady breaths.
  • Watch as the smoke thickens and then—whoosh—the nest bursts into flame.

Pro-Tips

  • Keep it Dry: Always return unused cloth to the tin immediately. Humidity is the enemy of a good spark.
  • The "Infinity" Loop: Your tins are durable. Once you've used your cloth, you can actually use the tin to "cook" your own char cloth over a campfire using 100% cotton scraps.
  • Patience is a Tool: If the spark doesn't catch the first time, take a breath. Survivalism is about calm, deliberate action.
